A one-of-a-kind and inexpensive family and cultural experience awaits you at St. Joseph Indian School's 33rd annual Powwow and cultural events. Two days filled with cultural art demonstrations, performances, craft projects and dances take place on September 18 and 19 in Chamberlain. Friday's activities include art demonstrations and performances on St. Joseph campus. On Saturday, take in campus tours or browse the Akta Lakota Museum and Cultural Center's beautiful displays and gift shop. The main event, the all-youth powwow, begins at noon. Children of all ages compete throughout the day. There will be a special opportunity for audience participation during the inter-tribal dance. After a full day of powwow dancing, enjoy a complimentary meal of traditional buffalo stew, wojapi and fry bread. All ages welcome to attend. Camera are welcome.
